Is it another campaign run by a mobile phone company??

Australia's first Mobile Screenfest is probably the newest film festival in Australia and the first mobile phone film and photo festival of its kind in Australia. In this festival - ALL films and photos have to be shot on a mobile phone.

Crazy, huh?

So it is all of the above, and none of the above. It is an innovation in filmmaking and really bringing an international phenomenon to Australian shores. You see, late last year I went to LA for a film festival and very fortunately won an award for Best Directorial Debut. Even more fortunately I met with Prof Karl Bardosh, the world leading expert in "cellphone filmmaking" or Cellphone Cinema as they call it over there in the US. I wanted to bring innovation to filmmaking in Australia and after coming home and speaking to people in the film and mobile industry, it was clear that this was an awesome idea - Aussies were going to love this!!

But it has been a tremendously challenging journey so far, to create a festival that has never ever been done before in such a big way in Australia. This blog, will share with you the stories of how this festival was created, how we are going, our greatest challenges and victories, everything about Mobile Phone filmmaking and all the other shit that happens along the way.
