Digital Media Interns NEEDED for 2011

Araya Pictures is an innovative company in the film and digital entertainment industry. We are holding Mobile Screenfest International 2011, the sequel to Australia’s 1st Mobile Screenfest 2010 (the first mobile phone film festival of its kind in Australia), where ALL films and photographs have to be shot on a mobile phone. This exciting role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the IT and digital media infrastructure and its innovative off-shoots as well as ‘e-marketing’ the festival. The role involves management of the festival and company websites, integration with mobile platforms, project managing aspects of development and liaison with festival partners, entrants and the broader community. There will be significant responsibility for developing and managing a fan base through social media channels such as our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites as well as other promotional tools.
This is a challenging internship that offers broad experience, working with talented people on innovation in converging film, digital media and mobile technology. We offer significant exposure and experience in a future-looking business that is making waves.
The internship is part-time (2-3 days a week), unpaid – 6 month minimum, starting immediately. There is a 3 months initial probation period.
Role specifics:
a. Management of Mobile Screenfest web platforms
b. Creative with enhancing the content of Mobile Screenfest website, working with outsourced programmers and graphic designers where required.
c. Managing festival entrants, enquiries and submissions
d. Project managing third parties associated with website enhancements (e.g. the possibility of mobile platforms, iPhone application, Augmented Reality components)
e. Working on marketing and social media strategies - such as developing and implementing new ideas on building and engaging a Facebook and Twitter fanbaseManaging interactions with festival partners and stakeholders where appropriate Engage with other other online forums/communities
f. Strong writing and proof reading skills
Skills and Capabilities:
o Experience in developing and managing interactive Content Management System based website
o Expertise in integrating films/ videos on a website
o Substantial knowledge of Facebook and Twitter tools and applications
o Proficiency with Photoshop, or other media creation tools
o Self-driven, enthusiastic and independent. Flexible to take on new challenging tasks


Other requirements:
o Able to work independently from home
o Able to work flexible hours and after hours where required (nights and weekends)
o Able to use multiple channels of communication including Skype
o Must have own transport and laptop/ PC
Highly desirable:
o Experience or exposure in the film industry / film festivals
o Experience or exposure to the mobile phone industry
o Experience or exposure to digital media projects
o Web design or Graphic design experience and knowledge of Adobe Suite software
